In a related lots of monk party winning in a row. I found myself into a group with 3 monks and a warrior/monk, and we won 29 times in a row at the Ascalon Arena. I know its no HoH, but it was amazing, about 25 of those times were flawless victories.

No, it makes them even more effective to a point. It's just that warriors no longer can be self-sufficient in damage. Now it takes a support caster. But the rewards are gigantic, and ridiculous in the HoH style play, as holding the altar allows you to rush in with 3-4 warriors with Balthazzars and near-instantly vaporize any moron stuck there. The ghost is just a sitting duck, and if you give proper lockdown, that ghost is gone in mere seconds. And since they are warriors, they ain't dieing anytime soon. Not the mention you don't even need to severe/gash or even galraths at all, by the time Balthazzars is done, that 1 final thrust is all you need.

Just a little question to clear up some things which we discuss on our guild-forum...
Sama, can you answer please, was this your build (classes, skills, people, teamplay, strategy etc.) 100% worked out, carefully thought over, balanced etc? or you just took 5 relatively random monks, added some other classes and so on?

I'm suprised that no one's pointed out that it's not just five monks... it's four Monk/Mesmers! Now that's a lopsided build! I love it.

The HoH leads to some really odd strategies as it really lives and dies on stationary defense / massive AoE offense to both kill heroes, and clear out blockers / interrupters quickly. I don't think that Warriors are overly valuable in the HoH at all - all they can hit is one target, and they *have* to get up into that mess if they want to try and take the dais - setting themselves up to lose to those AoE bombs. I'm not saying you shouldn't run them, but that you need to seriously re-evaluate your tactics on a Warrior-heavy build.
I guess I wasn't online for this run as I missed it, but I think the strategy is pretty clear - Fertile Season plus massive, armor ignoring AoE spam on the dais, backed up with Putrid Explosion chains. For those of you looking for an excuse to play an primary Necromancer in PvP, that's a great one - there is inevitibly a crush of people on that dais at the two minute mark, someone always dies on one team or another, and with a rune-powered Putrid Explosion you can pull off some ridiculous chains to clear out the dais. Soul Reaping plays into this beautifully, even, as the first death gives you the power to cast an Explosion, which takes someone out and gives you the energy for the next one...it's a beauty to behold.
In any case, congrats guys, and be sure to come back, we need better competition in tombs.
Peace,
-CxE

Yeah, my guild fought against them in Tombs on Sat night. After we finished off the first team, the dias was empty and we decided to capture it. Seeing two teams are still fighting each other and one team sitting around idle. We decided to take offensive and attack them.
Lets say we were quite "surprised" that we got wiped out within 5s. I was playing a monk during that time...you can imagine my surprise seeing all those health bars dropping like mad.
We quickly regrouped with only 3 ppl left on our team. 2 min mark came in and the rest rezzed at the dias. Last 2 min....IIIIII IIIII's party rushed us and we were totally defenseless
Good game folks!

Now i remember when everybody was crying in the BWE because rangers were so powerfull because daze was so much and poor monks can't heal, ok here you have monks are the best and nobody can stop this. Welcome to a pacient world with battles of six monks vs six monks.
If the gamepaly can't solve that the same group win during eight hours something is wrong.

Just unlock the skills, we can twink you with just about anything else you might need. The Hall of Heroes is still the best pharming spot in the game, fortunately.
Peace,

not sure what you're basing this on. but perhaps this team won a lot because these are some of the best players in the game...
and this wasn't build. i think salmon came up with it. i don't know all the skills they used, but i know their overall strat.
i think there's better places to farm than HoH...well in terms of unlocking weapons. but in terms of already put together great weapons than hoh is a nice place. the random drop system isn't that random tho...

Did it 25 times with a 7 player PUG. I took a special Fianna build to beat us.

I just think it is ridiculous anyone thinks this was amazing or omfg they held it 35 times!
We all know WAR raped everyone but Valandor. (who i think only stayed alive 20 min to get the auto win).
The skill level is nowhere in the game atm and more competition was found pre release.
HoH is the biggest joke on the planet and creates stupid scenarios where all the excitement is built around a stupid NPC character running around and with the pathfinding of a blind baby.
I think tombs is great and all but seriously the PvP is retarded with the grind, and I think if you notice people are playin less and less.
Also some of the gametypes in tombs get really annoying, CTF, KOTH, 3 ways.

Not really. 3+ mo/me abusing broken game mechanics can hold the hall for as long as people can maintain attention. 5 healing monks won't keep you there for too long. 35 wins in a row is more a triumph of stamina than skill

oh no let me rephrase that.. 4 mon/mes can hold it np. each one taking turns spaming spell breaker, interrupts, heals. that's why only 1 warrior is needed because no matter what you unleash on a group like that, the health bar won't be moving much. i say gw should LIMIT the ammount of monks per team and finally elliminate spell breaker. if not it'll probably the quick death of this game.

most likely the balthazar's aura bug. you can stack it easy and kill everyone in the middle that way.
